A Serenity

Introduction

Hello! It’s been a long time for me to not writing and uploading anything on this website. This time, I want to tell you one of my tough week in the second semester of this year, precisely at 11th November to 17th November 2019. But before reading this story or you can call it diary, I hope you while listening to this song, Tom Misch – I Wish, because I was listening to this song right when I started to write this story in hope that you get the same vibes/mood as me. The song is easy listening and immediately hooked at the first time you hear it. In my opinion, writing is an alternative way of showing self-expression and also becomes an entertainment for some people and increases one’s creativity and imagination plus makes the experience last forever.

Strategy and Tactic

Starting the week on Monday, 11th November 2019, there were a lot of tasks and responsibilities waiting to be completed properly with the fact that some of these tasks had progressed very little. But stay calm, at critical times like this, panic management, time management and stress management are very important to have. In addition, a positive mental attitude and good physical endurance will be the determining factors that will help us deal with situations like this. Recalling the advice from my senior, Iqbal Ridalta, “When the situation presses us and we are in a difficult situation, then planning and tactics are very important. In fact, planning to not plan will be better than having no plan at all”, more or less he said like that. Therefore, I made a small plan and strategy to deal with that. It is also important to write a small note about what needs to be done so it will not be forgotten plus there will also be a sense of satisfaction when the tasks are done well.

Strategy or Tactics ?

From several deadlines and the hustle-bustle of life during that week, 15th November and 16th November will be the main actors of this story. Consuming a lot of times, thoughts and feelings! 15th November 2019, precisely Friday is the day that I will present a presentation about RUU Migas representing my student organizations at the Faculty of Law of Unpad and the next day, Saturday, I took part in an internal paper competition at the campus where both stuffs were still in progress. However, it still must be run with pleasure and sincerity. Remembering the adage of one of my role models, Pandji Pragiwaksono, “When you have been given a responsibility and you have made a choice, you must give your best performance and love that responsibility!” Oh yeah, do not forget anyway that I wanted to send a little brownie cake to my mother who had a birthday on 16th November. Really exciting right?

Warm Up and Stretching

Preparation

Monday, 11th November and the two days later, I spent the full amount of my relaxing time and nights working on the full paper and presentation files of the campus internal paper competition. Exciting, enthusiastic and optimistic feelings surround this soul niche because the participants are not too many and of course I am confident enough with the topics that I brought. But the result? You will know at the end of this story. Remembering a wise sentence, “We as human can only wish and try, the rest will be determined by God.” Maybe from that wise sentence, I already gave a little clue about the results I got on this competition. Hahaha. Then, after finishing the deadlines of the competition stuff I said to my self in bahasa like this, “Hmm Alhamdulillah selesai juga nih deadline lomba, untuk masalah script presentasi ntar dulu deh, ini gimana presentasi RUU Migass??!!”

Brownies Cake

Brownies

Birthday for some people are a happy moment. Moment that indicates an increase in position and role in society, family and life. Moment that indicates a new mental attitude and thought incline. Therefore, on 15th November 2019 before leaving for Jatinangor, precisely after Friday prayers, I took time to send a package of brownies to my mother, who had her birthday the following day. I used the fastest package to get it right on time. But the truth? 2-3 days late. Shame on you JNE! But anyway, Happy Birthday Ma!

Next, is about the preparation of presentation about RUU Migas at Faculty of Law Unpad Jatinangor. A manifestation of the responsibility that I am holding in my student organization right now as the head of the strategic energy study division. But honestly, in this division we have not yet studied deeply about this issue. Fortunately, in the previous leadership periods, I had written about this issue plus the input of writing from my mates made me confident enough facing “Anak-anak Hukum Unpad” there. Hahaha.

The trip to Jatinangor was at half past one in the noon right after I delivered that brownie package to my mother. The extremely hot weather was exacerbated by the condition of the slide presentation which was not done made me a little dizzy and it inevitably had to be done during the trip. I left with my friends in a four-wheeled vehicle. Around 3 pm, we arrived there. We were warmly welcomed, and they were very enthusiastic about our presence.

The event began with the opening from the MC and was followed by some exchange information about each student organization. The time came, jeng-jeng-jeng, my name was called. I hurried up to the podium and delivered the results of the study about the issue. At that time, I was very confident, even though they looked like they wanted to eat me with a sharp look. But I was like not care and ignorant about it. Hahaha. Not a few mistakes in pronunciation I did at the time. But honestly, it was a very valuable experience for me. Next, it was followed by the presentation from Unpad.

They Just Looked Like Lion

Finally, it was closed with a group photo and a warm forum group discussion. My impression to “Anak-Anak Hukum Unpad” was so good and excited, they are very suitable when invited to talk about the life of nation’s politics and Indonesian history. Hahaha. One sentence that I can learn from my visit to Unpad Law is, “Law for Human, not Human for Law!”

Then we went back to Bandung and I arrived at my “Kos-Kosan” around half past 9 at night with the condition no yet preparing the competition script which would be held in less than 12 hours, not yet deprived of sleep. Hfft!

The Competition

Making The First Impression

As the saying goes, “The Show Must Go On.” Imagine just arrived around half past 9 at night with a very tired condition and had to do a presentation on the competition again on the following days at 8 am with the condition not yet made a script. Wanna try? Hahaha. After arriving at the “Kos”, I was immediately looking for some food and practice the presentation. Everything I did with hard and earnest effort. As the time goes by, it was 2 o’clock at night. Then, I decided to sleep and rest.

The next day, I looked at the day with such optimism. Heading to campus with my suit that I put in my bag and hope that I could do a little improvisation when performing later. Hahaha.

I got the second order to perform, everything went smoothly and there were no significant problems when I delivered it. I also was very familiar with the two judges present. At the time there were only three participants, actually there were five but the other two were resigned. Honestly, the chance to get the first place was almost gone. My mind was just how to get the runner-up because there was one participant who was very overpowered.

Overall, when compared to the other one, I was very optimistic about getting the second place. It can be seen in terms of the time use when presenting, the content, the quality of slides, research methods and depth of study. After the competition, one of the judges gave me a positive feedback, made me very confident to be able to snatch the second place.

I went back to my “Kosan” and waited at 1 pm to see the announcement at campus. But what was the results? Can you guess? Yeah, sure I didn’t make the runner-up. Hahaha. Honestly, I didn’t understand why so the results. Hahaha. Until now there has not been a transparent jury evaluation result given by the committee to the participants. It feels very difficult to explain here. It will be very long. Maybe it feels like this, if you take an exam and you are so sure that you will get 100, but it turns out to be 30. Hahaha. But come on, I just took it easy and consider it as a destiny from God.

Michael Phelps

After all the slack that happened a few days back. I did my hobby and weekly routine, which is to achieve happiness and health together, yeah it is cardio sport! Right after the announcement, in the afternoon I immediately rushed to swim in Saraga. I have resisted this hobby for not doing it on weekdays because of that hustle-bustle life. Hahaha. It felt really so long to meet the weekend at that week. As the Latin proverb says, “Mens sana in corpore sano” which means in a healthy body there is a strong soul.

Why do I like cardio sport? Especially swim? Because it is an exciting and fun coupled with upper body muscles that will be more formed. Then, the pleasure of swimming is not only when in the water but also afterwards. Where your body feels lighter and also increases appetite and better sleep quality. This is the explanation, if you want it to be even clearer!

The Goodness

Closing

At least that is all I can tell you about one of my tough week in this second semester of this year. An experience that full of drama and not a little of effort. Oh yeah, for the Quiz question is, what do you know about positive mental attitude? And what are the example that you have done so far? Just send the answer directly to my dm Instagram. Just do it! A go-pay voucher is waiting for you! See you later!
